Let's go to: Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

I just returned from a 5 day trip in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. It was my first time in Mexico and while some may say it's "not really Mexico", I was happy and excited to be there. We left from LAX early in the morning via Alaska Airlines (one of my favorite airlines, ever!) direct to Cabo San Lucas. The flight was surprisingly short, about 2 hours. I had no idea there was a time difference, either!

Now, this was a very different type of trip for me. I am the most obsessive person when it comes to utilizing my time wisely and my trip agenda gets revised 10+ times months before the departure date - does anyone else do that? My itinerary is usually by the hour and strictly abide by it.

This time though, we decided to try something different. We booked this trip for one reason and one reason only; to relax. We wanted to have some tropical drinks, great food, swim, frolic the beach, watch the sunset and get tan.

That's exactly what we did and it was a lot easier than I thought! We thought we would itch for something to do, somewhere to go - but no, we were happy as clams just getting to know our swim-up-bartender, getting burnt and eating endlessly.

We stayed at the Riu Palace Hotel & Resort, an all-inclusive property. I've never stayed at an all-inclusive property so it blew my mind! Riu Palace had plenty of restaurant choices from buffets to luxury eats, several bars, an active and quiet pool, two swim-up bar pools and direct access to the beach. The property is very large, boasting over 600+ rooms. Our Garden View Junior Suite was beautiful. Every room comes equipped with - wait for it - a liquor dispenser and a fully stocked mini fridge. I'm not a big drinker but not going to lie, it was pretty cool.

I'm from Los Angeles so I'm very spoiled when it comes to beaches and beach quality. So to me, the sand in Cabo felt very, very coarse and it hurt to walk on it. Don't get me wrong, it was beautiful. The ocean water is so warm with big waves. We had an incredible view of the Lover's Beach and had so much fun watching parasailers gliding through the sky. Not to mention the killer sunsets!

Next time, we definitely want to venture out to the Lover's Beach, go parasailing, ride horses along the beach, spend some time downtown and yes, check out Cabo Wabo (it was all the hype amongst the tourists!). It was the most relaxing trip we've ever had and I feel so refreshed! Thank you, Cabo - you are even more beautiful than in pictures and can't wait to go back!

Next stop: RMS Queen Mary, Long Beach, California

    1. It really depends! I've only been to Cabo and Ensenada, which are both completely different. If you want some vacation vibes, I definitely recommend Cabo or Cancun. Tulum has been a popular spot, too! xo
